Santokh Singh Chaudhary of the Congress party has won the Jalandhar parliamentary seat defeating former Punjab Assembly speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal of the Shiromani Akali Dal.

Santokh Singh Chaudhary was a late choice of the party but he came back from behind and with his relentless campaign and attacks on the Shiromani Akali Dal leadership won the parliamentary seat with a handsome margin.
