In the wake of the Pahalgam killings of innocent people, pro-Sikh freedom body Dal Khalsa has demanded a political, not militaristic, resolution to the festering Kashmir dispute. The murder of innocent people is a tragedy that transcends politics, says Dal Khalsa. WSN reports

In a blistering indictment of the latest violence in Kashmir, pro-Sikh freedom group Dal Khalsa condemned the “massacre of 25 innocents” in Pahalgam as an “orchestrated tragedy” designed to derail international focus and perpetuate fear.

The murder of innocent people is a tragedy that transcends politics,” said Dal Khalsa leader Paramjit Singh Mand. “This is not how grievances are addressed. Violence against common people is morally indefensible and strategically suicidal.”

Drawing a chilling parallel, the organization pointed to the 2000 Chattisinghpora massacre—when 35 Sikhs were gunned down during President Bill Clinton’s India visit—and warned that this pattern is no coincidence. “Now again, just as U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance lands in India, blood flows in Pahalgam. Are we not meant to ask who benefits from such violence?” asked Mand.

Dal Khalsa condemns killing of 25 tourists in Pahalgam, likening it to the Chattisinghpora massacre timed with President Clinton’s 2000 visit.

Dal Khalsa demanded that the United States immediately commission an independent investigation into the Pahalgam killings and called upon the international community to wake up to the recurring bloodshed conveniently timed with high-profile diplomatic visits.

“Twenty-five years on, Chattisinghpora remains a dark mystery. Who were the perpetrators? Why the silence? This unresolved crime continues to haunt Kashmir and India’s conscience,” added Mand.

The group criticized India’s failure to evolve a humane, democratic approach to the region’s aspirations. “New Delhi treats political questions as policing problems. That’s not governance. That’s coercion. Shutting down the internet, locking up leaders, and brutalizing a population is not the rule of law—it’s rule by fear,” the statement said.

Dal Khalsa calls on US Vice President J.D. Vance to demand an independent investigation; slams New Delhi’s dehumanizing approach to Kashmir as coercive, not democratic.

Dal Khalsa also raised the alarm over India’s increasing transnational repression and shrinking democratic space. “A just peace cannot be built on blood and silence. It must rest on the foundation of dignity, dialogue, and democratic values,” concluded Mand.
