Renowned folk singer Mohammad Sadique defeated Gulzar Singh Ranike of the Shiromani Akali Dal with a huge margin for the Faridkot seat.  He won the seat defeating sitting Member Parliament Prof Sadhu Singh of the Aam Aadmi Party.
